Established in 1958
The Ruttle Group of companies was founded in 1958. Originally known as Ruttle Plant Hire, it began by renting agricultural equipment to the farming community of North West England.
The company continued to grow in structure and extended its construction equipment rental division to cater for non operated plant, earth moving, excavating, civil engineering and landscape work.
The activity in the construction industry was expanded further in 1982 when Ruttle Contracting Ltd was formed. This company took over the construction, landscaping and civil engineering activities of the Group.
Further expansion saw the formation in 1989 of Ruttle Properties Limited which concentrated its activities on house building, industrial property and similar associated development work. The property division has over the past few years successfully moved into bespoke luxury apartment developments, which has expanded into an impressive portfolio of properties.
As well as the head office based in Chorley, Lancashire, the Group has divisions in Preston, Chesterfield and Lichfield.
In addition to the United Kingdom the Group has operating depots in Canada with Digger Rentals Limited, and in the USA with Rentrite Inc.
In 2002 the Group became one of the first equipment rental companies to operate in the Sudan, with the formation of Ruttle Equipment (Sudan) Ltd; the work is mainly associated with the relatively recent development of oil reserves.
